Fast alerts, live status, and the map you actually need
When dispatch tones out, RedAlert Responder pushes the alert to every member's phone, with text and email as backup so the call gets through. Members mark themselves responding, on scene, or available with one tap, and officers see who is coming, where they are, and who will arrive first. Volunteers respond from home. Career crews track station coverage. Nobody guesses at staffing.
The mapping is where a records company builds a better alerting app. It isn't a generic street view with markers somebody imported once and forgot about. It's your hydrants, your FDCs, your preplans, your occupancy hazards, and your points of interest, pulled from the property records your department maintains in RedAlert. Update a preplan or take a hydrant out of service, and the next alert reflects it.
Retone: the crew on scene can change the call
Dispatch sends what it has. What's actually there is often something else.
A member pulls up to an automatic alarm and finds smoke showing. Or the department turns out for a reported structure fire that's burnt toast and a sensitive detector. Either way, everyone else is still en route on the original information, and the usual fix is radio traffic, a phone tree, or nothing.
Retone handles it from the app. Upgrade the call to a working fire and push an all-hands alert to every phone, or stand the department down on a false alarm so twelve people stop driving to a call that doesn't exist. One tap from the scene, and everyone knows what's actually happening.
In the rig
RedAlert MDT puts the live CAD feed on every apparatus tablet, not just the command vehicle, alongside your own mapping layers and full preplan data with hazards and utility shut-offs. The crew understands the building before stepping off the truck. When the call winds down and the crew is waiting on a tow, the NERIS report can be started right there on the same screen.
The alert goes to the wall, too
RedAlert Station Board puts the same call on any TV in the firehouse: the incident, the map, apparatus status, and who's responding, updating live. Members walking in see the same picture as the crew already en route. Between calls the same screen shows duty crew, out-of-service rigs, tasks due, and top responders, so the board earns its place on the wall all day.
Phone, rig, and wall all work from the same call data, so the three never disagree.
One roster, and a way to talk
Members are managed once, in RedAlert Desktop, alongside their training records, certifications, and response history. There's no separate alerting roster to maintain, no member who left last spring still getting alerts, and nothing to reconcile every time someone joins or leaves.
Department and crew messaging runs through the app during calls and between runs, so members communicate without handing out personal cell numbers and the department isn't relying on a group text nobody administers.

Common questions
Can RedAlert replace our standalone alerting app?
Yes. RedAlert Responder covers what a standalone app does: live dispatch alerts, who's-responding status, GPS routing, mapping, and messaging. What you gain by switching is one less system to administer. Your roster lives in RedAlert Desktop with everything else you keep on your members, and your map reflects the preplans and hydrants your department actually maintains.
We already use IamResponding, Active911, Chief 360, or another alerting app. Do we have to switch?
No. If your members are comfortable with the app they have, keep it. RedAlert Mobile handles the field side, truck checks, daily logs, inspections, and NERIS reports from the scene, and it runs alongside whatever alerting service you already have. There are good reasons to stay put, and we see them all the time. Plenty of counties provide an alerting app to their departments for free, and plenty of departments need to stay on the same app as their mutual aid partners. RedAlert can work alongside these systems just fine.
What is the Retone feature?
Retone lets a member change the status of an active call from the app and push that update to everyone. Arrive at an automatic alarm and find a working fire? Upgrade it and every member's phone gets an all-hands alert. Arrive and find a false alarm? Stand the department down so nobody else responds to nothing. Dispatch sends what it has at the time of the call, and Retone lets the people on scene correct it in real time.
Does RedAlert do station alerting?
No, not on the hardware side. Responder alerts members on their phones, and RedAlert Station Board puts the active call, mapping, and responder status on any screen in the firehouse. If you need in-station audio, zoned speakers, bay door automation, and ramped lighting, that's a dedicated station alerting system, and RedAlert runs alongside one without conflict.
We already have Responder on everyone's phones. Why add MDT?
They solve different problems. Responder is about personnel turnout: alerting members wherever they are and showing command who's coming. MDT is about the rig turnout: a mounted screen the whole crew can see, with mapping, preplans, and CAD status in front of them for the entire response rather than on a phone in someone's pocket. Departments running both give members the alert on the way to the station and the full operational picture once they're on the truck. Staffed combo or career departments might just run with only the MDT from the truck, since the members responding are already in the station.
How does alerting record attendance for the call?
It doesn't, and that's deliberate. Response status in the app shows officers who is coming in the moment, which is a different job from the attendance record that decides who gets credit. Attendance is recorded in RedAlert Mobile, RedAlert Desktop, or at the RedAlert Kiosk, where members check in on a device tied to their fingerprint or key fob, inside a time window tied to the actual call.
Does the Responder App work for volunteer departments?
Yes, and volunteer departments are where it earns its keep. Members get alerted wherever they are and mark themselves responding from home, so officers see live turnout instead of guessing. It works the same way for career and combination departments, where station coverage is the more common concern.
