Navigating the NFIRS 5.0 to NERIS Transition

The transition from NFIRS 5.0 to NERIS can indeed be overwhelming, and the RedNMX Alpine Software team understands the challenges you may face during this period of change.

Rest assured, Alpine is committed to making this transition as smooth as possible for you and your Fire Department, our valued clients.

Breaking Down the NFIRS 5.0 to NERIS Transition

The information on a transition from NFIRS 5.0 to NERIS can be overwhelming.
Just know, we’ve got you covered.

Alpine is committed to making this transition as smooth as possible for you and your Fire Department, our valued clients.

The team at Alpine has listened to all the Webinars and reviewed all available information. We have tried to distill it down to bullet points to save time and help our customers.

That said, the best place for accurate, detailed information during the transition will always be the USFA.

Alpine is starting a series of blog posts about the transition from NFIRS 5.0 to NERIS.

  • Goal: Communicate what Alpine is doing to manage the transition.

  • Goal: Make customers aware of what they need to do to manage the transition.

Why should I be confident that Alpine can handle a transition to a new reporting format?

  • We’ve done this with many iterations of standardized fire reporting, including NFIRS 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.0 in our 30+ years. We’ve also done this on a state-level, as several states like NY, CO, MI, NJ, and MA had their own versions and CA had a radically different version.

  • We are in contact with the USFA, staying ahead of what we need to do.

  • We have doubled the size of our development team.

What is Alpine doing right now to prepare?

    • Ensuring we read and listen to all available information regarding the transition.

    • What we do know is that there will be development work to do in 2024.

    • Our Next Step: Alpine will be attending an open vendor forum tentatively scheduled for late May.  The NERIS team will walk through the system architecture and take questions from the industry.

    • After this meeting, we will have more clarity on what we (Alpine) need to do.  We will communicate the results of this meeting to customers.

    Alpine Software
has done many iterations of standardized fire reporting in our 30+ years.

We are committed to our client base of Fire Departments.

We will do the same with NERIS
