NERIS Rollout Schedule

The rollout for FEMA’s new reporting platform, NERIS, is happening in phases across all U.S. states and territories. Each region has been assigned a specific month in 2025 to begin its migration. This schedule was created to balance FEMA regions and avoid operational bottlenecks.

The Reality of the NERIS Transition

NERIS is FEMA’s next-generation reporting platform, replacing NFIRS (National Fire Incident Reporting System) after more than 30 years of service. As any new platform would, NERIS is still evolving through its initial hiccups. By switching now, your department risks facing those challenges firsthand, potentially causing disruption.

Alpine Software is a Proactive Leader in NERIS

At Alpine, we know there’s no better way to build something that works than by having our boots on the ground. That’s why we’ve proactively launched a NERIS pilot program with a select group of early-adopter departments. The program runs through late May and is designed to work through the transition pains so you don’t have to.

This staged strategy lets us surface and resolve issues in a controlled environment so the broader customer base benefits from a proven, low‑risk migration playbook.

Alpine recommends that customers wait until our first cohort of selected “early‑adopter” departments have fully migrated and our playbook is validated before beginning their transition.

By delaying until our guided rollout opens, you’ll:

  • A proven, step-by-step migration plan
  • Avoidance of repetitive data-cleanup or re-work caused by early-stage NERIS quirks
  • Staff time savings and smoother onboarding thanks to insights from our beta partners

If you’re feeling rushed, we assure our customers that training takes weeks, not months. Starting in August instead of May still gives you ample time to meet the end-of-year deadline comfortably.

FEMA is Not A Shortcut

FEMA’s free portal is a decent option for departments without vendor software. For Alpine customers, it creates disconnected data silos. It won’t link to your existing records, inventory, or personnel profiles, resulting in a loss of the integrated reporting you rely on.
