Shaping the Future of Texas Fire Departments: Alpine Software and SFFMA Collaboration

The partnership between Alpine Software and the State Firefighters’ Fire Marshals’ Association of Texas (SFFMA) which began in 2024, continues to thrive in 2025 with a shared mission: empowering Texas fire departments to overcome challenges and improve operations. This collaboration stands as a testament to their collective commitment to advancing fire service capabilities across the state.

A recent milestone in this partnership was Alpine Software’s involvement at the 2025 SFFMA District Leader Symposium in Austin on January 25th.

Daniel Adam, Alpine’s Account Executive for Texas, delivered a well-received presentation titled “From Data to Dollars: Cost Recovery and the NFIRS to NERIS Shift.” His talk resonated with leaders from 16 fire service districts, addressing critical topics such as:

  1. Cost Recovery and Reporting Challenges: Highlighting the inefficiencies of manual data entry, the risks of human error, and the missed opportunities caused by inconsistent reporting.
  2. The Connection between Cost Recovery and the Transition from NFIRS to NERIS: Explaining the enhanced data precision, expanded incident categories, and improved multi-agency collaboration that NERIS brings to fire departments.
  3. What the NFIRS to NERIS shift means for Texas fire departments: Showcasing how technology integration (Alpine’s RedNMX™) streamlines reporting, minimizes errors, and supports cost recovery efforts through automation and actionable data insights.

Daniel also discussed Alpine’s seamless integration with Fire Recovery USA, to empower departments to recover costs effectively—whether through EMS billing, hazmat cleanup charges, or grant applications. These tools align with state and federal requirements, ensuring fire departments maximize funding opportunities and maintain operational sustainability.

    1. Attendees praised Daniel for his clear, concise, and engaging presentation, highlighting the actionable insights he provided. Many noted his ability to break down complex topics into practical strategies that departments can immediately apply to improve their operations.
    2. Alpine Software extends its gratitude to SFFMA for the opportunity to contribute to the symposium and engage directly with Texas fire service leaders. “We deeply value our partnership with SFFMA and are excited to continue working together to support fire departments across the state,” said Gregory Dolecki, Director of Marketing. “Our goal is to help departments navigate reporting challenges and adapt to the NFIRS to NERIS shift with ease, while ensuring they maximize opportunities for cost recovery.”

As Alpine Software looks ahead, the company remains committed to equipping fire departments throughout Texas (and across the US) with the tools and support they need to thrive in an evolving landscape.
